Transitions Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with common psychiatric and emotional problems such as ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, Relational and Stress-related problems as well as major mental disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, and PTSD.
We also provide a full-range of outpatient treatment services to individuals struggling with alcohol and/or substance abuse disorders and those with “Dual Diagnosis”, meaning individuals who suffer from both addiction problems and mental illness. This last group of patients seldom get the only evidence based and effective treatment available; i.e. Integrated Treatment of both mental illness and addictive disorders. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services reported that in 2012 only 12 percent of the 4 million American adults suffering from dual diagnosis received treatment for both conditions. Unfortunately, many, if not most, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals still practice under the old paradigms of “sequential treatment” or “parallel treatment” believing that there should be a division between treatment for addiction and mental illness. We, on the other hand, provide integrated and simultaneous treatment for both mental illness and addiction to alcohol, drugs or certain problematic behaviors.
Transitions Center is founded by psychiatrists with extensive training and years of clinical experience in treating patients with mental illness, alcohol and drug addiction, and those with dual-diagnosis. The center operates under the clinical principles and guidelines which lead to the most effective medical, psychological and complementary treatments available for individuals suffering from psychiatric and/or alcohol and substance abuse disorders.
We provide Integrative psychiatric care based on the art and science of wellness principles for recovery. Integral to these wellness principles for recovery is the wisdom taken from the East and West that informs and shapes the treatment services that complements the healing of a person’s body, mind, self, and soul in a compassionate, and welcoming environment.
