Our psychiatrists are highly trained with years of clinical experience in diagnosing and treating all types of mental disorders. We also have board-certified physicians specializing in the treatment of individuals with “dual-diagnosis”; i.e. those who have both mental illness and addiction to alcohol and/or drugs.
A psychiatric evaluation involves a clinical interview with the patient. Other information such as review of medical records, a physical examination, diagnostic tests, and history from collateral sources is often needed to formulate a diagnosis. If a mental or addictive disorder exists, then appropriate treatment recommendations are discussed with the patient to develop an initial treatment plan that will foster effective treatment and recovery.
Please note that it will be only after the initial psychiatric assessment is complete that you would be able to know if the psychiatric providers at Transitions Center will be able to provide ongoing psychiatric and/or substance abuse treatment for you or not.
